Well Double 2 Shirts finally arrived "Home" to Drivers on Friday, wow what a stressful day - smoked nearly 40 cigs just following her down the M3. But, she is at last on the final leg of her journey from rotting hulk to raceboat - its taken 21/2 years of love to get her this far and a great deal of help from my friends and fellow team members Mark and Graham, without you two lads my dreams would not be coming true in a few weeks time, I can never repay you for what you two have done. Next Post will b of the Launch and re-naming back to "Double 2 Shirts"

Exhausts are being manufactured along with prop shaft guides, when thats done its complete with the set-up and fine tuning to do.
Hopefully it will be a active time over the off season ready for 2012

John's got it almost right :lol1 we had the exhausts made but the exit angles were incorrect, I got to fed up with the company making them (they had 3 attempts at getting it right) so we now have Mike Nicholson remaking them, there is so little space between the fuel tanks and the pipes that every mm counts. Mike is also making up the prop shaft guards which will incorporate the exhaust pipe support brackets (should look good :D ) originally we were going to support the pipes from a stainless steel channel suspended just below the engine hatch's but Mike recons its better to support them from below and having talked through his proposals I totally agree with him.

The set-up is complete as soon as Mike has fitted the bits, Just had a new tonneau cover made and engine bay cover to keep her dry, managed to get them in yellow to match the D2s colours...

Will post some pictures when the exhausts are installed

Should be fun in the closed season just enjoying the boat with John and myself getting to know how she handles..

Martin

Met up with George Swan on Sunday, he's the chap who originally rigged ABO :D
Had a great time talking about the boat and I think he was impressed with what we had done :D John and Natalie came down and we all went out for Lunch so it was a great Sunday...
anyway, attached pictures of the new cover I had made (Thanks to "Master Covers" for their hard work and a great price too  - think it looks OK..

The whole thing looks great. :)

When I last saw DTS you were still waiting on the superslim headers. Have you been out for a run in it yet if so how'd it go?

I've still not found a use for the heads, cranks etc...but I am using the MSD ignitions I bought off you on the Hunton project (as soon as I sort out some photos I'll do a build thread...gonna be painfully slow though: )

Keep smilin

Chris

Hi Chris hope you are well cant wait to see the Hunton Build thread....

Not been out in her yet, going for a "Re-Launch" in January 2012, 38 years to the day when she was first launched as "ABO".
Just got some final finishing off things to do, the problem is that i have to draw the line soon instead of keep changing/improving what we have already done. Possibly i am getting too anal over the finishings!!!!

Martin

Bit of advice needed... for the tanks should i use stainless steel Rivnuts (as the tanks are Stainless Steel) or Alli Rivnuts?

Still doing little bits and bobs and buying things that I think I will need for yet more tinkering...
